Putney Town F.C. over 100 years history?

In July 2004, a group of friends, based in Putney, formed a new football team called “Putney Town F.C.”. At that time, they had no idea that a team of the same name and location had existed 100 years ago.

However, fast-forward to 2022 and a local resident, A.Turner discovered an old photograph on a hard-drive of a Putney Town F.C. from 1912.

The original photograph had been presented to A.Turner in 2004, by local resident Ken Bernard whose grandfather was in the picture (A.Bernard). The photograph was restored, digitized and shared with the new Putney Town FC club secretary.

Highly intrigued by this discovery, we set about trying to find out as much as possible about the original Putney Town F.C.

Where the photo was taken and why?, who were the individuals in the photo (many of whom probably served in World War One).

So what is the story behind this historical photograph? Where did the photograph originate from?
