Putney Town F.C. over 100 years history?
We’re currently seeking help to research the history behind our football team (Putney Town FC) related to an old photograph from 1912 which was recently discovered by a local resident.

We can deduce from details in the photograph, that the team photo is taken next to Putney Common, opposite the Spencer Arms pub, in this exact location.
In the team photo, you can also see a row of three terraced houses. The chimney stacks look in tact and aligned exactly to the current picture of Putney Common.
In the original team photo you can also see a shop in the background, which looks like it is: F.J. Morrison’s Springfield Farm Dairy. See photo.
In the top left of the team photo, the letters show “llivan” which is likely to be the end of the surname “Sullivan”. The Spencer pub was previously Tom Sullivans.
(Photo source). At the time c.1905, this photo was taken the landlord was Thomas Sullivan who was born in 1869 in Auckland, New Zealand. Sullivan was a Professional Sculling Champion of England (1893).
We are keen to research more about the club but in particular the men who played in the team (identified names in the photograph), we suspect many of them went to serve in WW1.
